Liz Junell

photographer.
entrepreneur.

I am Liz Junell. I grew up in Houston, Texas and I graduated from the University of Texas in Austin (Hook em’ horns!!) with an early childhood education degree. After college, I spent six years working under my mom as an assistant photographer for Carol Junell Photography.  I then spent a year interning in Washington D.C. as a photo editor for a non-profit organization called International Justice Mission. After my internship concluded, I spent the next two years working as a pre-kindergarten teacher in Chattanooga, Tennessee before returning to my hometown of Houston, Texas where I pursued my love of photography again working for Junell Photography. Additionally, I have attended the Texas School and the Santa Fe Workshops in pursuit of my passion and love for photography.

I love photography and enjoy using it as a creative outlet to capture all your special moments in life. I specialize in children’s photography using my early childhood education degree and love for kids to capture their unique personalities. Additionally, I photograph families, newborns, couples, professionals, high school seniors, brides, special events and I am always up for new challenges.

Carol Harrison Junell founded Carol Junell photography in 1978.  She was a film photographer for the first half of her career. Casual portraits of families and children in natural light were the focus of the business at the onset.

A University of Texas graduate Carol embarked on her photography career after a brief stint in Law school.  She attended Texas school for Professional photographers for several years and made contacts with other ladies beginning their photography careers at the same time. Those 7 photographers have remained friends and professional support for all 40 years. Carol’s daughter Liz joined her and became the owner of Junell Photography in 2018.
